Breaking News: Bandits Kill Three In Fresh Attack In Sokoto

In a recent attack carried out by suspected bandits, three individuals lost their lives, and several others sustained injuries in the Soro community, situated in the Binji Local Government Area of Sokoto State.
The Sokoto State Police Command confirmed the attack, noting it happened on Monday.

According to Ahmad Rufai, the Police Public Relations Officer, the bandits initiated an attack on the Soro community. However, the police, along with the assistance of military personnel, effectively repelled the attack. Rufai also reported that in their frustration, the bandits set some houses on fire, leading to the loss of three lives among the residents and causing injuries to several others.
Sources in the affected village reported that the attackers also kidnapped several individuals and set fire to certain locations.

In response, members of vigilante groups conducted a retaliatory attack on the Fulani community, leading the police commissioner to intervene and facilitate a dialogue among the residents of the affected areas.
Recall that Bandits recently carried out attacks resulting in the deaths of 13 individuals and the abduction of 73 others, including women and children, in the eastern part of Sokoto State. These attacks occurred in various communities across three local government areas: Sabon Birni, Gada, and Goronyo.
The affected communities include Gatawa and Dangari, where six people lost their lives, with two casualties in Gatawa and three in Kurawa. According to Musa Muhammad, the leader of the vigilante group in Sabon Birni, and Aminu Almustapha Boza, the legislative member representing Sabon Birni South Constituency in the state House of Assembly, the victims were killed on a farm around 5 pm on Monday. Boza also reported that several individuals were kidnapped during the attacks.
Abdulwahab Goronyo, the Chairman of Goronyo Local Government Area, expressed his concern over the frequent attacks on the communities. He stated that two individuals were killed and 23 others were abducted in Shinaka and Kagara communities the previous Monday.
Likewise, Kabiru Dauda, the member representing Gada East Constituency in the state House of Assembly, revealed that over 50 people, including women and children, were kidnapped by bandits in the area on Monday. He lamented that despite numerous complaints about the deteriorating security situation, no effective measures had been taken to address the problem.
“We complained to the Commissioner for Security, the DSS, and the police because we know the routes used by these bandits to carry out their attacks on our communities, but all our efforts were in vain,” Dauda said.
