Governor of River state, Nyesom Wike blasts Southern Governor for betraying him and causing him to lose the PDP primary election to former president, Atiku Abubakar.
In an even organized for him after the PDP primaries, the Governor expressed his bitterness over the situation, calling southern Governors ‘betrayers’ and promising that they would regret their actions in the nearest future.
After the election, Atiku Abubakar had emerged the winner, having 134 votes more than Wike. This was partly due to the help of Sokoto state Governor, Aminu Tambuwal, who had stepped down and implored his followers to support the former vice president.
In Wike’s words, “We have done our part. We never betrayed anybody because it is not in our blood to betray. It is a shame to those people…Some of our Governor’s of the South that are the people they used to sabotage us. Moreover, we have shown them that we are not like them. We have capacity to do whatever is good for us.”
The Governor also went further to reveal that his decision to run for the elections was taken based on the agreement of Southern Governors.
During the event, he ended his speech on a note of happiness. According to him, running for the elections was one of his greatest happiness and being able to get votes meant he was capable.
