Nigerian Television Authority has been hosting a town hall event in which they interview different sets of Presidential aspirants in the forthcoming 2019 General Election captioned the candidates.

President Muhammadu Buhari and Vice President Yemi Osinbajo have been interview by Kadaria Ahmed who is the moderator of the town hall meeting

Wednesday the 30th of January 2019 was the day for Former Vice President Atiku Abubakar and the former Governor of Anambra State Peter Obi. They are contesting under the platform of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP)

Kadaria Ahmed also moderated in today’s event. In the cause of the event, he asked Atiku if corrupt persons
would be granted amnesty if he becomes President.

Atiku replied

“Why not? I give you an example of Turkey. Turkey gave amnesty and all the monies taken abroad were brought back and the government said when you bring the money back, you don’t need to pay taxes. Invest in manufacturing, technology, and real estate.

“And look at Turkey today. It is like any other European country today.”

“I will grant amnesty to looters who are willing to return the stolen money. It is better we use the money for development than to prosecute them for years without result”

Peter Obi then added

“Yes, it is better to grant amnesty for them and use the money returned for development, than to allow them to join the party in power and not return the stolen money”
