Nwifuru Appoints Prof. Umezurike SSG
Governor Nwifuru of Ebonyi State has approved the appointment of Prof. Grace Umezurike as the Secretary to the Ebonyi State Government. The long-awaited appointment is in line with the Governor’s promise to assemble the best hands in his administration.
Prof. Grace Umezurike, a renowned scholar in socio-political philosophy and a Senior Lecturer in the Department of Philosophy at Ebonyi State University, brings a wealth of knowledge and experience to her new role. She has demonstrated her exceptional capabilities in academia and has been recognized globally for her achievements.
According to a statement signed by Dr Monday Uzor, Chief Press Secretary to the Governor of Ebonyi State.
“The Governor of Ebonyi State, His Excellency, Rt. Hon. Francis Ogbonna Nwifuru has approved the appointment of Prof. Grace Umezurike as Secretary to Ebonyi State Government. The appointment takes immediate effect. She will be sworn in on Tuesday, June 13, 2023, at the Executive Council Chamber, Government House, Ochudo, Centenary City, Abakalilki, at 10 am.”

Prof Grace is married to the former Commissioner for Health in Ebonyi State Dr Umezurike Howard Akuma Daniel. A consultant surgeon, an astute medical doctor who hails from Agugwu – Umunaga, Uburu in Ohaozara LGA of Ebonyi State, the same village where the immediate past Governor, David Umahi comes from.
Prof. Grace Umezurike’s appointment as the Secretary to the Ebonyi State Government is expected to further enhance the state’s administrative machinery, promote effective policy implementation, and contribute to the overall development and well-being of the people of Ebonyi State.
