UN: Over 120,000 Displaced in Gaza as Defence Minister Orders a ‘Complete Siege’

Gaza housed about 2.3 million Palestinians after Hamas took power in 2007. The Israeli Military launched multiple airstrikes on Saturday at Gaza after an unusual simultaneous attack by the Hamas. The United Nations Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs OCHA, reported on Monday that people had fled for their safety making more than 123,000 People in Gaza internally displaced as a result of Israel’s retaliatory airstrikes on the Gaza. According to Vanguard news “The UN agency also revealed that more than 73,000 people in the area are sheltering in schools, which some are designated emergency shelters”.
OCHA disclosed that the Ministry of Public Works and Housing in Gaza said that 159 housing units have been destroyed, not less than 1,210 housing units, water and sanitation infrastructure for more than 400,000 people, and several health facilities seriously damaged in the Israeli shelling. The United Nations Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs said: “Over 123,538 people, have been internally displaced in Gaza, mostly due to fear, protection concerns and the destruction of their homes”.
Israeli Defence Minister, Yoav Gallant, according to AFP has ordered a “complete siege” on Gaza through video message, as the military shelled the Palestinian territory with air strikes. Gallant said “We are putting a complete siege on Gaza… No electricity, no food, no water, no gas — it’s all closed.”
