Surprise Attack Against Israel by Hamas [Full Story]

Hamas launched an surprise attack against Israel on the 8th of October 2023.

In the early hours of 6:30 am Israel’s local time, sirens from rockets were heard flying over Tel Aviv

Hamas’s attack on Sunday against Israel left many Israelites dead. This attack prompted Israel to launch airstrikes against Hamas in retaliation and also declared war against the Gaza militants Hamas.

Isreal’s prime minister Benjamin Netanyahu while addressing Israelis in a video after the attack said “Citizens of Israel, we are at war – not in an operation, not in rounds – at war,”

Hamas is a militant group that controls the coastal enclave of the Gaza area.

Reports have it that as they launched the attack on Israel, they sent gunmen directly into Israel.

According to reports, over a thousand persons have died. About 700 Israelis were killed by the Hamas attack while Israel’s retaliation killed 400 Palestinians.

Hamas captured about 100 hostages including some Israeli soldiers and their fate is still unknown.

Muhammad Al-Delf the Hamas military commander called the attack on Israel operation “Al-Aqsa Storm”. He said that the attack on Israel was a result of the assault of Israel on women, the desecration of the Al-Aqsa mosque in Jerusalem and Israel’s continued occupation of Gaza.

In a statement issued by Hamas on the same day of the attack, it said that its gunmen were still present in about 7 seven cities in the southern part of Israel and were supporting them with rocket launchers. The cities they listed include Ofakim, Sderot, Yad Mordechai, Kfar Aza, Be’erl, Yated, and Kissumfim

In retaliation, Israel launched “Operation Swords of Iron”. The Israel Prime Minister speaking about it said they shall “exact a huge price” from the Hamas group. Israel Defense Force has civilians in the Gaza Strip leave their residential homes immediately for their safety.

Israel Defense Forces said they have hit 426 targets in the Gaza Strip that Hamas uses.

We will recall that in 2014, Israel was at war with Hamas for 50 Days and over 4000 rockets were fired by Hamas into Israel.
