Squid Game to return to our screens

On Sunday, Netflix announced that the wildly popular South Korean show “Squid Game” is green lit for it’s second season.
“Squid Game” is a fictional drama from South Korea in which contestants who are desperately in need of money play children’s games to win the cash prize. Sounds simple but the catch is, the games have been tweaked to be extremely fatal.

According to Netflix, “Squid Game” was the biggest-ever series at launch for the company and it is the company’s first Korean series to reach No. 1 in the United States, attracting a total of 1.65 billion hours of viewing in the 28 days following its release, in the United States alone.

The executive producer, Hwang Dong-hyuk disclosed that it took a total of 12 years to bring the first season of the series to screens last year. But it took just 12 days for Squid Game to become the most popular series ever.
Hwang Dong-hyuk wrote to the fans saying ” And now, Gi-hun returns, The Front Man Returns. Season 2 is coming”
Seong Gi-hun is a divorced gambler who entered the contest for the big money and is the main protagonist of the series.

Hwang also intimated the viewers through the letter that new characters will be included and that the” boyfriend” – Cheol-su of the deadly animatronic doll in the first season- Young-hee will be introduced.

“There’s been so much demand, love and attention for a season two,” Hwang said. “So I feel I have no choice but to make a season two.”
From the letter, fans should prepare to have another mind-gripping and blood-dripping adventure from the second season of the famous series.

So far, since the executive producer’s letter and season 2 trailer release, the expectations from fans have skyrocketed as it’s one of the global top trends at the moment.
