Godwin Agabi (SAN)replaces Mike Ozekhome as Nnamdi Kanu lead lawyer
A former Attorney-General of the Federation and Minister of Justice, Kanu Godwin Agabi, a Senior Advocate of Nigeria (SAN) has been appointed as the lead counsel to the embattled leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB) Mazi Nnamdi Kanu.
Toptrends leant a family source announced the appointment of the new lead counsel on Thursday ahead of Nnamdi Kanu’s appearance before the Supreme Court in Abuja.
Agabi, a former Senator was also the president of Nigerian Bar Association (NBA) has over 40 years legal experience under his belt. In 1997 he served two-terms as the federation’s Attorney General.
Agabi as a Minister of Justice, distinguished himself as Nigeria’s Chief Legal Officer and top attorney in the country.
On September 15, 1997, Agabi was named a Senior Advocate of Nigeria. He attempted to run for governor of Cross River State in the elections of April 1999, that brought Donald Duke as governor.
