BREAKING: Abdulkadir Danbuga, Sokoto Rep member, is dead
Death, once again, came knocking on the doors of Nigeria’s Green Chamber of the National Assembly this morning, snatching in the process the member representing Isa-Sabon Birni federal constituency of Sokoto State, Abdulkadir Jelani Danbuga.
He was a first-time member of the House of Representatives elected on the platform of the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC).
He reportedly died around 12:30 am on Wednesday after a brief illness.
Danbuga was said to have taken ill on Tuesday and was admitted in an undisclosed hospital for treatment
Top Trends Nigeria learnt that the remains of the fallen federal lawmaker have been taken to Sokoto for burial, according to Islamic rites.
Spokesman of the House, Hon. Akin Rotimi, who confirmed the incident, said the death was announced on the lawmakers’ platform this morning.
However, the member representing Sabon Birni South constituency at the Sokoto State House of Assembly, Aminu Almustapha (aka Boza) has said that the federal lawmaker died around 12:30 a.m. on Wednesday after a brief illness.
He was said to have been admitted to hospital around Tuesday noon.
“His remains would be taken to the National Mosque for the bathing ritual after which it would be flown to Sokoto for burial around 11 a.m.,” Almustapha said.
Danbuga leaves behind two wives, many children and grandchildren.
An official statement from the House of Representatives on the sad incident will come later.
