Six Injured And One Dead As Car Escaping From Police Catches Fire

Yesterday, one person was burnt to death while the six others suffered severe injury as their car was being pursued by some police officers and then had a fatal accident and caught fire.

Reports have it that it was an Audi 80 car, suspected to be carrying diesel. The driver attempted to escape the Police officers that were at Obiaruku area of Eku-Agbo Road.

This incident occurred in Umutu Community of Ukwuani Local Government Area of Delta State.

During the hot chase by the Police, it so happened that the Audi 80 collided with a Jetta vehicle that was coming from the opposite direction which is the Agbor direction that is between Umutu and Ebedei communities.

The driver was the only one in the Audi 80 and was roasted to death when after the collision his car veered off the road and ran into the bush before bursting into flames. Those in the other vehicle sustained severe injuries.

Immediately the police that was giving the hot chase saw waht happened, the reversed their car and left.

The injuered where susbequently rushed to a nearby hospital for immediate medical attention by observers of the accident.

Mr. Andrew Aniamaka the Police Public Relations Officer of Delta State on comfirming the incident said the car been pursued was carrying illegal petroleum products.

He also added that the state police command has commenced an investigation as to what really happened
