The Plane Carrying Emiliano Sala has been Found

The wreckage from the plane carrying Emiliano Sala and pilot David Ibbotson has been found in the English Channel
at about 9 am on Sunday morning.

According to Marine Scientist David Mearns who was leading the search for the Sala missing plane said that the plane carrying Emiliano Sala has been found and his family informed by Police.

Speaking about it to Sky Sports, he said

“Our job is done. This is an active investigation now in the hands of the AAIB [the UK’s Air Accident Investigation Branch], and they will be taking over as agreed. We’ve had a long trip back and all I could think about was the families. This is what they wanted us to do, we’ve achieved it and that’s the best we could have hoped for – the best outcome. An incredibly tragic and sad, and a devastating moment, but at least some of their questions will be answered because of what we will be able to do today.”

Emiliano Sala who is from Argentina and Pilot David Ibbotsen are presumed to have lost their lives after when the Piper Malibu aircraft they were aboard in disappeared on 22 January 2019.

Guernsey Police stopped looking for Sala and Ibbotsen three days after, with the officials saying that the chance of them being alive is extremely unlikely.

However, the search was resumed after Sala’s family raised funds to continue the efforts through a GoFundMe page.

A target of £300,000 was meet on the GoFundMe page after Lionel Messi, Sergio Aguero and the President of
Argentina Mauricio Macri spoke out to continue the search.

Sala was aboard the plane as he flew from Nantes to Wales after he completed a £15m pounds transfer to Cardiff City.

He had initially flown back to  France to say goodbye to his teammates and on his way back to England the Piper Malibu plane disappeared from the radar close to the Channel Islands.
