PDP Primaries: Banky W emerges ticket winner for Eti-Osa constituency.

Nigerian-American singer Mr. Olubankole Wellington popular known as Banky W was on Monday 23rd May 2022 declared the winner in the just concluded PDP(People’s Democratic Party) primaries.

He contested with a legal practitioner Mr. Sam Aiboni for the PDP ticket for the Lagos Eti-osa constituency seat in Nigeria’s House of Representatives.

Out of the 31 votes cast by the party delegates at the primaries, Banky W gathered twenty-eight votes while Sam Aiboni gathered 3 votes.

The delegates at the primaries consisted of 31 ad-hoc members of the PDP and one national delegate.

The returning officer for the election Mr. Ayodele Kazeem who declared the result described the entire process as peaceful, fair, and open.

Banky W also attested to Mr. Kazeem’s claim and described the primary election as free and fair, attributing his victory to God and the will of the people.

Banky W appreciated the party for the opportunity to represent it and the people of Eti-osa federal constituency. He restated his commitment to his vision to do better for the good people of Eti-osa.

This is the second time Banky W would be contesting for the same legislative seat.

In 2018, Banky W announced his intention to run for the Lagos Eti-osa constituency seat under the MDP.

He lost the seat to APC’s Babajide Obanikoro in the 2019 election, after which he moved from MDP (Modern Democratic Party) to PDP ahead of the 2023 elections.

Should Babajide Obanikoro pick APC’s ticket after the party’s primaries for the 2023 election, Banky W would be yet again contesting with his former opponent for the same seat.
