According to a yet to be released survey carried out by The Demographic Health Survey (DHS) and United Nations Children Fund (UNICEF) and The Federal Ministry of Education, the number of out of School Children in Nigeria has risen to 13.2million

Hammid Bobboyi, the Executive Secretary of Universal Basic Education (UBEC) who was represented by Mr. Bello Kagara, Director, Social Mobilisation, made this known at a Northern Nigerian Traditional Rulers Conference on Out-of-School Children Pre-Conference briefing earlier today in Abuja. The main Conference will hold from 10 to 11 October in Kaduna State.

With this figures, Nigeria has the highest number of out of School Children in the world.

Boko Haram crises and other factors contributed to increasing the number and it has also affected the socio-economic progress of Nigeria.
