Kingsley Moghalu, YPP Presidential Candidate Quits Politics

Kingsley Moghalu, the Young Progressive Party (YPP) Presidential Candidate in the just concluded Nigeria general election has declared his withdrawal from partisan politics.

Moghalu who got a total of 21, 886 votes as announced officially by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) and who also came 14th in the presidential election race, made his decision known in a chat on Arise News TV in Abuja.

He said he will now dedicate his time to movement he called “To Build A Nation” (TBAN) which will seek to help in the development of Nigeria’s electoral process.

“I’ve decided to pretty much withdraw from partisan engagement at this time, the elections are over.

“We’re engaging on a non-partisan basis to a platform called To Build A Nation (TBAN), a citizens’ movement that will campaign for electoral reform and engage in voter education.

“Those are the two things this democracy needs if it is to survive,” Moghalu said.

When asked if he will accept any  political appointment if such came from the Muhammadu Buhari led administration, he said “If such an appointment is offered, then you reflect on it and make a decision.”

We will recall that Kingsley Chinedu Moghalu was a former deputy Governor of Central Bank and also a Professor in international business and  public policy at the Tufts University Fletcher School of Law and Diplomacy.
