Jail Break in Myanmar

Jailbreak has occurred in Hpa-an prison in the eastern Kayin state of Myanmar.

The Jailbreak took place in the morning today. The Police of Myanmar is hunting for the escaped prisoners.

How did this happen?

From reports in some media outlets, the prisoners before escaping hijacked a delivery truck and broke through the prison gates.

They also attacked and wounded one of the prison officers and drove the hijacked truck out of the prison.

They are conflicting reports as to what the truck went into the prison to do in the first place.

Some say the truck went to drop sand and stone for some construction, while the others say the truck went in to take the garbage out from the prison.

Locals resident around the prison and its environs have been asked to contact the authorities if they see strangers around their communities.

A total of forty-one inmates escaped today while eleven of them have been captured according to the state police Chief Aung Myat Moe. He said, when the Prisoner escaped, they headed for the Hpa-an-Hlaingbwe highway.

The Deputy director of Hpa-an jail, Khin Mg Win said a tribunal has been set up to decide the actions that will be taken against the inmates that have been recaptured.
