INEC Postpones The Presidential and National Assembly Election
The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has announced the postponement of the 2019 Presidential and National Assembly election scheduled to hold 16th February 2019.
The Chairman of the commission Professor Mahmud Yakubu made this known to newsmen at about 2:43 am in Abuja.
speaking about it he said “proceeding with the election is no longer feasible”
He added that the Presidential and National Assembly elections have been rescheduled to hold on 23rd February 2019 and the Governorship and State Assembly election is also moved to 9th March 2019.
However, they have been reports all over the nation that materials needed for the elections have not arrived. INEC may have postponed the election because of logistics.
They have been so many reactions from various people as to the possibility of the INEC postponing the election. Ayodele Fayose the Former Governor of Ekiti State have questioned on Twitter if INEC was ready for the election.
Is @inecnigeria ready for this elections? Materials not in many states. In Ekiti, no ballot papers and result sheets for Reps and Senate. Same in Edo while there is no result sheets for presidential election in Taraba.

Speaking to some Journalist keeping vigil at INEC headquarters in Abuja,
Rotimi Oyekanmi, Chief Press Secretary to the Chairman of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), says the commission has taken a decision on the presidential and National Assembly elections scheduled to hold on Saturday.
Rotimi Oyekanmi the Chief Press Secretary to Prof Mahmud Yakubu the INEC Chairman said the INEC has taken a decision on the rumors of INEC postponing the election.
He explicitly said “A decision has been taken, but you’d have to hear from the horse’s mouth.” when prodded to confirm if INEC will postpone the election.
With the official statement from the INEC Chairman today, INEC has postponed the election and new date announced as well.
