This is coming almost after a week that Vice President Yemi Osibanjo disclosed that President Muhammadu Buhari has prevailed over anti-corruption agencies to prepare charges against Babachir Lawal.

The travail of Lawal started after the Senate ad-hoc committee on Mounting Humanitarian Crisis in the North East on December 14, 2016, indicted him of fraud in a contract awarded for the clearing of Invasive Plant Species in Yobe State through the Presidential Initiative on North East (PINE)

According to the Senate ad-hoc committee, Lawal spent N570m to cut grass. Rholavision Engineering Limited was also said to have gotten a suspicious payment of N200m from the contract.

PINE which was under the office of the SGF at that time was unable to account for N2.5 billion allocated to it for the alleviation of IDP’s suffering.
