Atiku Abubakar- The Presidential candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party has announced Governor Ifeanyi Okowa of Delta State as his running mate in the upcoming 2023 presidential election.
He made the announcement on Thursday through his social media handles.

The post of the Presidential candidate for the PDP- Atiku Abukakar read, “I am delighted to announce Governor Ifeanyi A. Okowa as my Vice Presidential candidate.
“I look forward to travelling our great country together, engaging with all Nigerians and building a shared future of peace, unity, and prosperity for all. As One We Can Get It Done. #OneNigeria.”

Governor Okowa was welcomed to the PDP’s headquarters in Abuja on Thursday with congratulatory remarks from some party members as he arrived to attend the party’s Vice Presidential Screening exercise.

Despite the statement released by Abubakar, the party is yet to declare the running mate for it’s Presidential candidate- Atiku Abubakar.

Apart from Governor Okowa, others reportedly aiming at being the party’s Vice Presidential candidate are Rivers State counterpart, Nyesom Wike and the Akwa Ibom State Governor, Udom Emmanuel.

Abubakar scored 371 votes to emerge as the party’s Presidential candidate during the primaries defeating his close contender, Governor Nyesom Wike of Rivers State who polled 237 votes. Governor Wike’s will power is not deterred as he still aims to get through as the Vice Presidential candidate of the People’s Democratic party.

It is quite clear that the stakes are high and in the favour of Governor Ifeanyi Okowa compared to his other contenders as the presidential candidate has chosen him but until an official statement from the party is released, there is no official running mate for the PDP Presidential candidate.
