The Truth About Shehu Sani’s Defection
Sen. Shehu Sani, The Senator representing Kaduna Central Senatorial District has quit being a Member of the All Progressive Congress APC
Some media channels reported that Senator Shehu Sani made this known in a letter dated 19th October 2019 that he addressed to the APC Chairman, Adams Oshiomhole, While the others reports claimed that he addressed the letter to his ward Chairman and copied the Nationa Chairman of the APC.
According to the letter, he did not give reasons as to why he is leaving the APC at this time and also did not state the Political Party he is defecting to.
However Mallam Lanre Issa-Onilu, the National Publicity Secretary has been reported by some
media outlets to have said “we received the news of the alleged defection of Senator Shehu Sani through media reports. The Party leadership will relate with all the facts concerning the reported defection and react appropriately in due course”
Over time Sen. Shehu Sani has continuously expressed his dissatisfaction with the performance of the APC in both National and his State Kaduna State.
The Defection did not come as a surprise to some because Sen Shehu Sani was said to be given automatic ticket by the APC National Body and therefore did not participate in the Senatorial Primaries that produced Uba Sani the Special Adviser to El-Rufia on Political Matter.
Rumours going round is that they are a possibility that Sen Shehu Sani’s name was not sent to INEC before the deadline of 18 October 2018.
