Terrorist Group Takes Responsibility for Kuje Prison Attack


A terrorist group, Islamic state in West Africa (ISWAP) has taken responsibility for the attack at Kuje Prison.

The prison was attacked on Tuesday night with bombs and many convicted criminals escaped.

According to a post by Tomasz Rolbecksi, he said, “ISWAP has taken responsibility of the attack and has succeeded in freeing dozens of prisoners.”

What President Buhari said concerning the attack

President Mohammadu Buhari has visited the prison attack scene on Wednesday and he described the attack as disappointing.

He said, “I am disappointed with the intelligence system. How can terrorists organize, have weapons, attack a security installation and get away with it? ”

Minister of Defense blames Boko Haram as 879 prisoners escape

After the prison attack, 879 prisoners escaped as the officials take control of the facility

The minister of Defense, Major General Bashir Salihi Magashi said on Wednesday morning that suspected terrorists were responsible for the prison attack.

According to the Minister of Interior, Abubakar Umar, 443 prisoners were recaptured and some returned voluntarily.

Magashi and Ministry of Interior Permanent Secretary, Shuaib Belgore blame Boko Haram terrorist because 64 Boko Haram terrorist were relocated to the prison earlier.

Magashi said a Civil Defense officer died and three others were wounded.

It was also reported that all 64 Boko Haram terrorists relocated to the prison escaped during the attack.

A statement was later released by the Nigerian Ministry of Interior that four inmates died and 16 others were wounded during the attack.

Efforts are being made to capture those who escaped.

Abba Kyari still in prison

There were rumors that suspended Deputy Police Commissioner, Abba Kyari was among the inmates who escaped.

According to a prison official Abba Kyari is safe in prison and his cell was not attacked by the terrorist as their major target was their convicted brothers.

Abubakar Umar said, ” Abba Kyari is safe.”
