Presidential Election Tribunal Reserves Judgement on PDP, Atiku’s Petition against Buhari’s election

On Wednesday, the Presidential election tribunal sitting in Abuja has reserved its judgement on the petition filed against President Muhammadu Buhari by the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and Atiku  Abubakar who is their Presidential candidate in the Presidential Election that was held on 23rd February 2019.

Justice Mohammed Garba who heads the five man panel after listening to the arguments of the parties involved said

“‎Judgment in this petition is hereby reserved and will be delivered on the date to be sent to counsel for the parties,”

However, the Dr. Livy Uzoukwu (SAN) the lead counsel for the petitioner urged the court to uphold their case or declare them winner or order a fresh election.

But both Yunus Usman (SAN) who represented the Independent National Electoral  Commission (INEC), Chief Wole Olanipekun (SAN) who represented President Muhammadu Buhari and Lateef Fagbemi (SAN) who represented the All Progressive Congress (APC), all urged the tribunal to dismissed the petition for lacking in merit.

We will recall that on August 1, 2019, the tribunal asked all parties involved to file and exchange their final addresses and fixed Wednesday for the adoption of the addresses.
