Palliative: Gov. Nwifuru Approves 1.9 billion Naira For Christmas

The Ebonyi State Government has approved a sum of 1.9 billion Naira for Christmas palliatives to benefit the citizens of the State. The announcement was made by the State Commissioner for Information and Orientation, Engr. Jude Chikadibia Okpor, during a briefing with journalists in Abakaliki, the State capital, following the State Executive Council meeting.

Engr. Okpor explained that the Executive Council considered the memo and gave its approval for the allocation. Subsequently, this allocation will be presented to the State House of Assembly for final approval. Furthermore, a 13-member committee, chaired by the Secretary to the State Government, has been constituted to oversee the implementation of the palliative distribution.

Additionally, the Commissioner noted that Governor Nwifuru inaugurated five newly appointed Special Assistants and assigned them specific portfolios. He urged the Special Assistants to view their appointments as a call to serve and to actively contribute to the realization of the State’s vision and development.

In the context of the ongoing screening exercise within the State Civil Service, Engr. Okpor stated that the Executive Council has decided to extend the conclusion deadline to October 30, 2023. This extension aims to provide more applicants with the opportunity to participate.

Furthermore, the Executive Council resolved to prioritize the patronage of local rice farmers in the State as the primary source of rice paddy for processing in the rice industry. This decision is intended to support and encourage local rice farmers and boost their production capacity.
