Nigeria to End their 15-Match Winless Friendly Against Mozambique

The Super Eagles of Nigeria will play against Mozambique today at the Estádio Municipal de Albufeira Portugal.

The Eagles will be hoping to record a win against the Mambas of Mozambique to end their 15-match winless friendly in the past five years.

The José Peseiro-led squad almost broke that jinx on Friday when they played Saudi Arabia, as they came from behind to score twice with goals from Kelechi Ihenacho and an own goal, but  Saudi Arabia stood their ground and held the Eagles to a late draw with late free-kick. Now, in the game against Mozambique, the Super Eagles are optimistic that they will win as they have a solid track record.

The Super Eagles won three games and drew one against the Mambas in their last four meetings making them invincible and undefeated against the Mambas. The Palancas Negras of Angola played a 1-1 draw on Friday against Mozambique.

José Peseiro’s team will be without the services of Victor Osimhen and Kelechi Ihenacho. Osimhen got injured in the second half of the game against Saudi Arabia while Ihenacho has been permitted by the team manager to attend to his private issue.
