Lagos State Sacks Two LASTMA Officers and Demotes Four for Taking Bribes
According to a statement released on Monday, The Lagos State Government says it has sacked two LASTMA Officers and demoted four others for taking bribes.
The six Lagos State Traffic Management Authority (LASTMA) officers were disciplined after facing a disciplinary committee that was set up to investigate the allegations leveled against the officers between September and December of 2021.
Lagos State Traffic Management Authority (LASTMA) is an agency owned by the Lagos State Government and is under the ministry of transport. The major purpose for the establishment of LASTMA on 15th July 2000 is to transform the transportation system of Lagos State and to also ensure free flow of traffic so as to reduce road accidents.
Olumide Filade the spokesman of LASTMA explained that two officers had their appointment terminated while the other four were demoted.

He added that the disciplinary action mated on the officers was in line with the Lagos State Civil Service Rules and Regulations.
Speaking further, he said that LASTMA could only get better if the public shared their experiences while providing evidence of the perceived miscoduct of LASTMA officers.
He also urged Lagos State road users to be law-abiding and comply with traffic laws and also desist from attacking LASTMA officers.
His statement reads in part :
“This is necessary in order for all of us to promote a greater Lagos for the benefit of all and the realization of Mr. Governor, Babajide Olusola Sanwo-Olu’s objectives in the first letter of the ‘THEMES’ agenda (Traffic Management and Transportation),” noted the statement. “We wish to add by informing well-meaning and concerned Lagos residents and the motoring public that we have various windows through which complaints can be channeled for prompt action.”
It added, “Such complaints shall be investigated dispassionately with despatch; 08129928490 and 08129928515, while Comptrollers could be reached via 08129928448, 08129928749, 08129928512, 08129928542 and 08023270248.”
