Kidnappers Demand N150 Million For Former Secretary of NFF Sani Toro And Two Others

Alhaji Sani Toro, a former commissioner of sports, Bauchi state, a one-time member of the House of Representatives and former secretary of the Nigerian Football Federation, NFF; and Garba Yila, a former assistant coach of the Nigeria Super Eagles, and their friend Alhaji Isa Ijah were abducted by gunmen.

 

 

They were abducted around Akwanga road in Nasarawa state around7.30 pm. The three men were reportedly on their way back to Bauchi state from Abuja, the country’s federal capital territory where they attended the wedding of Fatiha, the son of former NFF President, Alhaji Aminu Maigari.

 

 

Alhaji Ali Yakubu Lame in a report stated that the men were five in the vehicle but the gunmen abducted three and left two. One of the men they left Alhaji Mijinwaya according to him was sick and cannot walk properly, while they shot the other man in the hand.

 

 

The gunmen who kidnaped the three men are demanding 150 million naira as ransom; 50 million for each of the kidnapped victims.

 

 

There are also reports that Garba Yila is not too healthy at the time of the kidnap.

 

The abduction of the three has been confirmed by the Bauchi State Police Public Relations Officer, Ahmed Wakili. He however said he could not provide details of the incident citing that it happened outside his state of coverage. According to Wakili, ‘The news is true. I got across to one of the sons who told me he was kidnapped in Nasarawa state on his way back from Abuja. I will communicate more details when I obtain’.

 

 

The abduction of Alhaji Toro has left many especially his kinsmen in shock. This continues to affirm that nowhere and no one is safe in the country. Politicians, religious clerics, traditional rulers, and ordinary citizens have been targets of kidnappers in the rising insecurity that has engulfed the Nigerian nation.
