Google Celebrates Funmilayo Kuti’s 119th Birthday
A popular search engine site ‘Google’ has designed a beautiful doodle to celebrate Mrs Funmilayo Kuti’s 119th birthday. Mrs Kuti was the first woman to drive a car in Nigeria, the mother to a legendary musician Fela Kuti, and the grandmother to Seun Kuti and Femi Kuti.
Mrs Kuti died on 13th April 1978, few days after Nigerian Military personnel thrown her out of a three story building in her son – Fela’s house.
Her death and the invasion that led to it are detailed in a song titled “Coffin for head of state”
