EPL: Prediction for the kickoff game between Tottenham and Liverpool this weekend

The Premier League returns somewhat too soon this weekend, just after the conclusion of the international break. Both Tottenham Hotspur and Liverpool FC have had solid starts to their respective campaigns and now until Tottenham collapsed at Watford weeks ago, they’ll be coming up against one another in an attempt to secure what would surely be the biggest win of their seasons so far. As the early kick-off all eyes will be on them, and given how entertaining they can be on any given day, it seems as if they wouldn’t have it any other way.

Spurs are still reeling from their loss against Watford, and in truth, they haven’t really shown anything all that special up to this point. They’ve managed to grind out results but we need to see more than that if we’re going to believe that they can do something special this season. In truth, it feels like the schedule is going to catch up with them once the Champions League rolls around, and they need a bit more strength in depth if they want to compete consistently at the top.

Son Heung-min could still be experiencing some fatigue in the wake of South Korea’s Asian Games triumph, meaning that he could miss out. Harry Kane will likely be fit as he attempts to keep dispelling the August goalscoring myth, but Spurs would be without their number one shot stopper in goal.

When you’re one of the most watched teams in European football, there’s always going to be a certain ‘pressure’ on your shoulders. Up to this point, however, Liverpool have dealt with it perfectly, easing through their first few games of the Premier League season – with the Leicester win being a little bit debatable. The challenge now will be managing all of the tournaments that lay ahead, because if they aren’t able to do that, they could crumble quicker than most people could even fathom.

Liverpool, as always, will likely rely on their dynamic front three to get the job done against Spurs, though Salah and Firmino have been lacking a little bit of fire in their games, but they are too dangerous on their day. however, Jurgen Klopp has almost all his players fit for the weekend game. At the back, it’ll be interesting to see whether or not Alisson is able to forget about his costly mistake against Leicester.

This is a tough one to call, even though the majority of pundits will likely lean towards Liverpool. While we can understand why they haven’t exactly blown every single team they’ve played against out of the water this season, and while Spurs aren’t at ‘home’ per say, they do have more experience playing at Wembley than the Reds. We think it’ll be high scoring with four goals shared between the two potential title contenders, but in the end, they’ll share the spoils in the form of a 2-2 draw.
