Catholic Priest Murdered in Nkwerre

Rev Fr. Jude Egbuom of St Patrick Catholic Parish Amucha was murdered last night.

He was murdered in Nkwerre in Nkwerre Local Government Area of Imo State by unknown Gunmen.

The Gunmen also murdered a young man a young whose identity is yet to be known and was said to be in the company of the Catholic Priest in his car.

After the priest and the young man was murdered, the gunmen made away with his car.

According to Chidiebube Okeoma while writing on Punch newspaper reported that the catholic priest was murderd around 8 pm when he went to a barber’s shop on Anara-nkwerre road in nkwerre town.

He also reported that the criminals when they confronted the Priest demanded for his car keys but the Priest resisted which then angered them. Immediately they shot the priest and the young man in his car
and the fled afterward.

From the circumstances surrounding the killing of the Priest, it indicated that is was a case of armed robbery
rather than a case of assasination according to a native of the community.

Andrew Enwerem the Police spokesperson comfirmed the killings and said the police commisioner had sent a
tactical unit of the command to the area.

Another Person whose identity is yet to be know was also killed by the criminals.

The Priest is said to hail from Nkwerre and is doing his missionary at Njaba a nearby Local Government Area. He was also murdered in his Priestly regalia.
