A 22-year-old Nigerian,Steve Ezeonu has won a Grand Prairie City Council run-off election in Texas, United States.
The Nigerian-American has joined other bunch of Nigerians in America to occupy a political contested position in the North American country.
Ezeonu defeated his Republican opponent , Greg with 177 votes . He got the total of 3,903 votes while his opponent , Greg got the total of 3,720 votes .
A lot of congratulations had been coming in from Nigerians and the most important from Mrs Abike Dabiri-Erewa, the Chairman/CEO, Nigerians In Diaspora Commission (NiDCOM) .
“victory was hard-earned but well-deserved
By emerging victorious, Ezeonu had proven that hard work and dedication to duty pays. I was not surprised by Ezeonu’s victory because his resilience,dedication, doggedness contributed to his success at that age”, the NIDCOM chairperson said.
She urged Nigerians to workharder because it really pays . She advised Nigerian youths home and abroad to learn from the good result of Ezeonu’s hardworkingness . She also advised him ,the winner,to try as much as possible to fulfill his campaign promises as he has a lot of opportunities ahead of him.
The NIDCOM chairperson ,Dabiri-Erewa aslo praised Nigerians in Texas who massively supported their own dear brother.
