2 Killed, 11 Missing in Benue Bandits Attack, Gov Alia Orders Probe

In Benue State, reports have it that there was an attack on the cattle traders and 2 killed, 11 missing in the Benue bandits attack.

This incident happened in the Kwande area of Benue State.

The victims are said to be conveying cows, bags of rice and goats to the south-eastern part of Nigeria. They followed the Nyihemba community when they were attacked. The victims have been identified as members of the Katsina-Ala Local Government Chapter Cow Dealers Cooperative Society

Rev Fr Hyacinth Alia the Benue State Governor has instructed traditional rulers within the Katsina-Ala Local Government Area to produce the bandits within seven days.

According to reliable reports, the victims’ truck broke down before the bandit had their sway on them.

Muniru Bawa the secretary of the Katsina-Ala Local Government Chapter Cow Dealers Cooperative Society when contacted, said

“2 of the passengers on the truck were killed by the criminals, while 11 others are still missing”

Hence he confirmed the attack and the entire association is currently grieving while still hoping that the missing eleven victims will be found

Ichongo Baver a traditional ruler within the area while confirming the attack said the community is deeply troubled by the incident.

He also stated that they are working closely with security agencies to fish out the bandit and to ensure that justice is done.

He added that the bandits who carried out the attack will be arrested and handed over to the police in accordance with Gov Alia’s directive.

Prof Joseph Alkali the Secretary to the Benue State Government who represented Gov Alia condemned the attack and ordered the local Chiefs of the area to produce the bandits

He said this at a peace meeting held at the Jato-Aka council hall on Friday.
