Vinicius Junior told Xavi the FC Barcelona Manager to Cry More
Barcelona’s unbeaten start to this season’s campaign ended in a 2-1 loss to Real Madrid in the first El Clásico of the season at the Montjuïc Olympic Stadium. Despite several of their best players being on injury Barça thoroughly outplayed Madrid for 60 minutes and deserved a lot more from the game. Still, Jude Bellingham’s second-half strike gave Los Blancos the victory in the game they were outplayed.
Barça made a fantastic start to the game, mostly due to Xavi Hernández’s initial tactical setup that confused Madrid with and without the ball in the early lead and the Blaugrana used quick, incisive passes to possess the ball from back to front and created good offense.
It took Madrid some time to figure out Barça’s formation but eventually settled into the game and began enjoying some possession though visibly frustrated, but had enough talent on the pitch and Bellingham tried his luck from 30 yards and found the top corner and the game was suddenly all square with 20 minutes plus stoppage time to go.
The visitors were energized after equalizing and suddenly began dominating the game which made the game look wide open and all three points were up for grabs going into the end of the match.
When the game is gone half an hour already, and the match has almost zipped by.
Vinicius Junior was frustrated with a host of tough tackles on him some were fouls, some were not, and is in the ear of the official.
The Brazilian looked frustrated by Araujo’s tight man-marking once again and claimed he had been fouled by Araujo but Xavi, Barcelona boss who has been extremely active and animated on the touchline, was shouting at the fourth official, telling him to ignore Vinicius and the claims for fouls.
So when the duo comes together, Xavi touches semi-affectionately on the cheek of
the Madrid’s winger something like not a slap, but not far away from it and
said Keep your head, son…
Vinicius Jr. was subbed before the game ended. When asked by the reporter about what did he told FC Barcelona manager Xavi before leaving the pitch.
The Brazilian international said: “I didn’t really speak much with him. I just told him to cry more.
Well, when I was fouled in the match, he was shouting at me, “Don’t dive, don’t dive.” That’s why I told him to cry more”. He added.
Madrid won the game as Luka Modric deflected a cross from Dani Carvajal at the near post and perfectly delivered to Bellingham who strike passed the keeper to score his and Madrid’s second goal in the stoppage time.
