Two Injured as Gunmen Attacks Bayelsa PDP Chieftain’s Residence
Chief Diekivie Ikiogha, a chieftain of the People’s Democratic Party in Bayelsa State, residence in the Kpansia area of Yenagoa, the state capital was allegedly reported to have been attacked by suspected political thugs on Tuesday.
It was alleged that the hoodlums had thrown an explosive believed to be dynamite into the building around 2 a.m.
On the same note, two unidentified individuals were also allegedly reported to have sustained gunshot wounds after they were attacked by unknown criminals within the Opolo axis of the Yenagoa.
However, no causalities or injuries were recorded at Ikiogha’s residence, but only the window near the area where the explosive landed was affected.
Some residents of the area confirmed the incidents and said that they heard a loud explosion from the compound around 2 a.m.
A source who spoke on the condition of anonymity said: “I heard a big explosion from this building around 2 am last night. But I don’t know what caused it.”
Ikiogha, the former Commissioner for Agriculture and Chief of Staff at the Government House, Yenagoa, returned to the PDP last week, after many years he decamped to APC.
The Police Public Relations Officer, Asinim Butswat, of the state when contacted, said he would find out about the incidents but has not yet gotten back to our correspondents as of the time of filing this report.
