Rivers ADC Governorship Candidate Nominates Tonto Dikeh As Running Mate

In preparations for the 2023 River’s State Gubernatorial elections, the African Democratic Congress governorship candidate – Tonte Ibraye, has nominated popular actress, Tonto Dikeh, as his running mate.

The popular Nollywood actress announced her nomination on Instagram on Friday, while sharing their governmental plans if elected into office during next year’s election.
Dikeh said the administration would invest into social protection and create social value for the youths massively.
The announcement on the actress’s Instagram handle read, “I thank Mr. Tonte Ibraye, the Governorship candidate of the African Democratic Congress Rivers State for nominating me as his running mate.”

Dikeh listed some of the points in their manifesto to include, “investing massively in social protection, creating a social value system for young people, increased women inclusion in our governance system, supporting small businesses and strengthening our traditional institutions to be active players in the drive to bring sustainable development to the good people of Rivers State.”
Revealing her reasons for vying for the post of Deputy Governor, the actress stated that it was the right thing to do. “… I make bold to say that accepting this nomination is not only a good idea but, the right thing to do” -Tonto Dike.

“We shall work out modalities for job creation for massive employment, inclusion of more youth and women in governance and play vital roles in the development of Rivers State where their ideas and strength can be properly utilized” -Tonto Dike said at a press conference in Abuja.

She further said, “As a patriotic Nigerian, an advocate of good governance and a humanitarian who have positively touched the lives of millions of less privileged through my foundation, The Tonto Dikeh Foundation, and my experience on governance, leadership, and administration from Committee of Youth on Mobilization Sensitisation (CYMS), I will play a crucial role in moving our dear state forward.

The Governorship candidate of the ADC -Tonte Ibraye gave the following statements during the press conference further endorsing and reinforcing his choice of running mate thus, “I have worked closely with Tonto Dikeh for more than a year now and she has been part of the party for a very long time. She has been following up with the primary process, she’s an advocate of transparency and I believe I did not make any mistake as choosing her as my running mate.”

Ibraye further said; “I and Tonto are coming on a rescue mission, we want to rescue the people of Rivers State. We would work with data, we would invest massively in social protection, we are going to ensure that we strengthen our traditional institutions to be part of the governance system to transform the people of Rivers State”- According to Vanguard.

Dikeh, however, urged people of the state, laying emphasis on the youth to register and get their Permanent Voter Card ready to ensure they vote during the election.
