No Premier league player has conceded 5 penalties against his side in a season – Luiz has 4 already
Arsenal defender David Luiz keeps the bad records going as he was sent off for the 4th time in a season that is yet to be completed.
The Arsenal hitman came in the 1st half following an injury to his teammate, it took him only 4 minutes into the second half to be shown the way out of the field for a rough challenge on an opponent, resulting to a penalty which Kevin De Bruyne made no mistake from the spot.
After 100 days of no English football, the game returned on 17th June with a tough away trip for the Gunners to the Etihad stadium. The last EPL meeting between these two sides ended in a 3 – 0 humiliation in the favor of the Citizens right at the Gunner’s backyard, and it was kind of a repeat at the Etihad last night.
One-nil at half time, Arsenal still had hopes of ending well, until the harsh David Luiz reduced the Gunners to 10 men and committing a penalty. It became a difficult night for the away team who couldn’t record a shot on tackle after 90 minutes.
In the history of the EPL, no player has committed 5 penalties against his side in a season, David Luiz has 4 already.
Are we on our way to a record-breaking season in the wrong direction?
