NIGERIA PLAYERS ALMOST LYNCHED TO DEATH
- Home Based Players almost lynched to Death
The match between Remo Stars vs Bendel Insurance in the Nigeria National League, NNL, Southern Conference A1, witnessed a horror of shame.
The match that was scheduled to hold on the 6th of June, 2021 by 4 pm has been going on without any issues till the 90th minute.
It was goalless all through till the 90th minutes after the Referee added seven additional minutes. Hell, lose as fans of Remo Stars rushed into the field of play to lynched the match officials, players of their opponents as they run for their lives.
Despite fans were still not allowed in the Nigeria Stadia, particularly in NNL due to the Covid-19 pandemic, Remo Stars supporters still make their way into the Ikot Ekenne Stadium.
The match between both clubs is an intensity match for qualifications to the Play-off, the playoff is to determine the winner that will join the Nigeria Professional Football League, NPFL. Remo Stars leads on the log while Bendel Insurance is the third on the log with four points only to separate them.
In another retrospect, some Nigeria Clubs have been a victim of fans hooliganism in time past which strict measures have been taken to eradicate this issues, especially for the Clubs who have been the major suspects.
However, it all seems this is not working, last year, 2020, a match day between two Northern rivals. It was Kastina United vs Kano Pillars, over forty people who came to watch were seriously injured, with a particular victim almost giving up the ghost.
Early this year, an NNL team Vandrezzer Fc also filed a case to the NFF about fan hooliganism. It was mmatchday4, Osun United fans threaten the safety of Match Officials and Vandrezzer players and officials.
Despite, a lot of these cases have to warrant great punishment from the League Management Bodies, it’s looking this is still present about the round leather game in Nigeria.
By the time of filing this, nothing has come from the league body on the situation of Remo Stars football club.
If things will change, a lot needs to be done.
