Mario: Arsenal Fans’ Hatred Caused Havertz’s Struggles.

Kai Havertz has been described as a technical player- he is a two-footed attacking midfielder who can comfortably play with both feet as well as his head. The 24-year-old style of play drew early comparisons to his countryman, Mesut Özil, which Havertz himself admitted that the midfielder was a player he idolized. However, during his younger age, at 19, his impressive performances in the Bundesliga, brought comparisons between him and former Leverkusen players like Michael Ballack and Toni Kroos. Some even described him as the combination of Alleskönner, and the three aforementioned players.

The former Chelsea skiper, Mario Melchiot has blamed Kai Havertz’s recent poor form in Arsenal’s shirt due to the fans doesn’t show him love. During the last summer transfer window many Arsenal fans disagreed with the manager Mikel Arteta when he opted to sign him for the sum of £65 million. Since the central midfielder’s signing, he has found it difficult to pick up his normal form but had a slow start in Gunner’s shirt.

The former Chelsea playmaker went for a goal drought for a complete nine appearances but ended his goal drought when Arsenal played a 4-0 victory against Bournemouth last weekend. Though Havertz struggled during his final stint at Chelsea shirt, registering only nine goals in 47 appearances as a forward for the Blues.

Daily sports reported that Mario Melchiot said via HITC: “I understand what Stevie (Nicol) is saying ‘the game is not done because it’s 2-0. But I think the bigger picture is very important,”
“The fans don’t like Havertz. He is struggling with that. So, the moment he picks up the ball, then he has a lot of pressure.”
