Jackson Fires Chelsea to Dramatic Victory Over Nine-Man Spurs

Chelsea secured a dramatic win over nine-man Tottenham to end their unbeaten start to this season’s campaign. Nicolas Jackson’s hat-trick triggered a 4-1 scoreline in a chaotic VAR drama on Monday.

Chelsea boss Mauricio Pochettino recorded a victory on his first return to Tottenham Spurs after his sack in 2019.

Pochettino’s revenge mission was covered with controversial incidents such as red cards for the Tottenham duo as Referee Michael Oliver and the over-worked VAR officials sent off Cristian Romero before the break and Udogie soon after the break for his second booking which reduced them to nine.

Tottenham started the game with an early lead in the sixth minute when Kulusevski unleashed a powerful shot that deflected in off Levi Colwill. Still, Cole Palmer leveled it from the spot before half-time by Romero’s foul which led to his dismissal.

However, both teams had goals disallowed by VAR, while Tottenham’s woo also included losing James Maddison and Micky van de Ven to first-half injuries.

Meanwhile, despite the loss Ange Postecoglou’s team remained in second place and one point behind leaders Manchester City, while Chelsea moved up to 10th place.

Spurs boss said after the game “There will be a forensic study of every decision out there, I think that is the way the game is going and I don’t like it.”
“If you look at all that standing around we did today, maybe people enjoy that sort of thing but I’d rather see us playing football.”

Pochettino was given a warm reception by Spurs fans for his five-year reign in the club and their maiden Champions League final.
Pochettino said: “The technology is there and we need to accept it. Many things happen on the pitch and you need to verify and check.”
“We deserve the credit. Tottenham are doing fantastic but tonight we were the better team.”
