How 12 Persons Died And 7 Injured In A Ghastly Motor Accident In New’s Eve
As 2018 was coming to an end, about 12 families lost their loved ones in a ghastly motor accident.
The accident involving a red DAF 85 Trailer with no registration number, a Toyota Camry and a Toyota Hiace Bus, occurred at km 3 Gbagi along the Ibadan/If Road Oyo State. It affected nineteen people – 10 male adults, 8 female adults, and one male child.
The Oyo State Federal Road Safety Corps Command (FRSC) said it got the report of the crash around 11:56 pm and responded immediately by dispatching the FRSC standby rescue team to the accident site.
Mrs. Cecelia Alao the Oyo State FRSC sector commander said nine people were confirmed dead on the spot while the remaining 10 victims who sustained various degrees of injury were taken to the Toun Specialist Hospital Iwo road for immediate medical attention.
Three persons out of the 10 that were taken to the hospital later died which automatically brings the number of persons who died in the accident to 12 – eight male adults, three female adults, and a male child.
The surviving seven persons are still receiving treatments at the said hospital while the corpse of the earlier dead victims was taken to the morgue of the Oyo State Specialist Hospital, Adeoyo.
From finding by FRSC, the cause of the accident could be attributed to break failure. The wreckage of cars involved the accident has been cleared by FRSC personnel.
It is reported that some of the victims were on their way to attend crossover service at their various churches.
Mrs. Cecelia further urged drivers and vehicle owners to ensure they take adequate maintenance of their vehicles and adhere to safety rules. She commiserated with the families of the deceased and wished the injured who are still undergoing treatment a quick recovery.
