Gunmen Burn Imo Commissioner’s Home
The gunmen who are rumoured to be the arm wing of the Indigenous People Of Biafra, IPOB, on Sunday razed the home of current Imo State Commissioner For Information and Strategy, Declan Emelumba.
The gunmen successfully set fire on the two houses in Emelumba’s compound without any resistance. The attack was carried out in the early hours of Sunday at his community in Ubulu-Ihejiofor in Oru Local Government Area, Imo State.
Nobody was injured in the attack and none of the gunmen was apprehended. The security operatives in Imo State Capital had earlier said they foiled an attack planned against the police checkpoints in the state.
“It was so terrible. We could not sleep throughout last . We hid ourselves in the bushes to avoid being harmed”,the source who wants to remain unknown said.
The commissioner, Declan Emelumba, himself confirmed the incident and said ” yes, it is true. My house in the village has been burnt down. It was completely razed. We don’t stay in the village. My gateman managed to escape.” He declined to respond when he was asked whether the attack was politically motivated.
This is not the first a politician home is being attacked in the state. The home of the governor of the state has once been razed by unknown gunmen which led to the death of people. Police stations and public offices are being attacked.
