Globacom Nigeria Accountant Commits Suicide

A GLO Nigeria Accountant, Miss Folake Abiola a 45- year old woman reportedly drank a portion of insecticide resulting in her death.

She committed suicide by allegedly drinking the ‘chemical substance’ on Friday, at her residence, number 1 Abayomi Kukomi close in Osapa London, Lekki, Lagos State.

Folake Abiola, a female accountant with telecommunications company, Globacom has allegedly committed suicide in the Lekki area of Lagos State.

Folake was a Christian, had no husband nor children. She was the only Christian in her family and she lived alone.

Mr. Benjamin Hundeyin, the spokesperson for Lagos State command confirmed that it was pure suicide owing to the fact that a bottle of insecticide was found close to her lifeless body when the police approached the scene of the incident.

The deceased has been buried after the family requested for her corpse and it was released on the grounds of compassion.

A friend cum colleague of the deceased who requested that her identity be left undisclosed had informed the press that Folake was suffering from depression for a long while.

Health experts have urged the public to look out for the emotional health of their family members and ensure that depression is tackled at the very early stage to avoid thoughts of suicide.

Relatives should do well to handle depressing situations with care and look for ways to restore back courage and hope to affected family members. The following tips listed below have been proven to be effective
1. Encourage victim of depression to eat healthier foods, fruits and vegetables.
2. They should stay hydrated.
3. Avoid/ restrict alcohol consumption.
4. Exercise moderately as exercise helps in lifting up the mood.
5. Be involved in the life of the victim, do not let them feel alone.
6. See a psychologist if situation does not improve.
