Brighton Make History for their Victory Over the Four-Time European Champions ‘Ajax’
Brighton secured their first-ever win in Europe campaign, by completely outplaying the four-time European Champions ‘Ajax’ and enjoyed a famous night at Amex Stadium in the UEFA Europa League as goals from Joao Pedro and Ansu Fati gave them the three points.
The European veterans are down in the relegation zone in the Eredivisie and without a permanent manager and the hosts ‘Brighton’ inflicted more woes on Ajax with a controlled and impressive display.
The Seagulls struggled in first-half to turn their possession into goals until Kaoru Mitoma’s shot was saved back to the onrushing Joao Pedro, who gave the home side the lead and Ansu Fati’s lovely finish made the game comfortable after the break.
The Seagulls lost their opening Group B game at home to AEK Athens before drawing at Marseille.
The Seagulls manager Roberto de Zerbi told TNT Sports after their first win in the UEFA Europa League campaign that:
“We have got the first victory in Europe for Brighton,”
“It is a great day for our fans, our club, our owner and we are very proud to give them this day.”
“We played a great game, we played very well,” De Zerbi added.
“We deserved to win, maybe with more goals, but the most important news is that we didn’t concede a goal.”
