Breaking: Tribunal Decides The Fate Of Oti And PDP
The governorship election petition tribunal in Umuahia, the capital of Abia State, made a significant decision on Friday, October 6. The tribunal struck out the election petition brought forth by the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) against the incumbent governor of the state, Alex Otti of the Labour Party (LP).
The three-member panel, headed by Hon. Justice H.T.D Gwadah, delivered a three-hour judgment and dismissed the PDP’s claims on three grounds below:
1. Alex Otti’s qualification to participate in the 2023 governorship election.
2. Allegations of electoral malpractice.
3. Otti’s inability to secure the required number of votes to be declared the winner of the 2023 polls.
In her judgment, Gwadah ruled that the PDP’s petition lacked merit.
At the time of reporting, the tribunal had gone on a short recess and was set to resume to hear the case involving the governorship candidate of the APC and the Labour Party.
