APC Presidential Primary: Jigawa delegate slumps and dies

Alhaji Isah Baba Buji, one of the delegates for the ongoing All Progressive Congress (APC) presidential primary slumped and died this morning.

 

Mr. Isah is one of the 61 delegates from Buji local government, Jigawa state. He was also the APC Assistant chairman in charge of the Jigawa central zone.

 

The deceased slumped and died at the Jigawa state liaison office in Abuja. The deceased who is suspected to have died of heart failure was confirmed dead on arrival at the hospital.

 

Alhaji Abdullahi Ango, the chairman of APC Jigawa East told newsmen that the dead had no known record of any ailment. He just slumped and died.

 

Mr. Anglo reacted to the claim by some media that the deceased died at Eagle square,  the APC convention venue. According to Mr. Anglo, the deceased died while still preparing to come for the convention.

 

APC spokesperson for Jigawa state said the body of the deceased was being prepared to be conveyed back to Jigawa state for burial rite.

 

The All Progressive Congress National Convention today, Tuesday entered its second day, and the party is yet to arrive at a consensus candidate.

 

The party has till Wednesday 8th of June to present its presidential flag bearer ahead of the 2023 general elections.

 

The party presidential ticket is keenly contested by over ten candidates including Yemi Osibanjo, Rotimi Amechi, Bola Ahmed Tinubu, Ogbonnaya Onu, Yahaya Bello, and Tunde Bakare, amongst others.

 

The party delegates accredited to vote in the party primaries have arrived the Eagle Square ahead of the voting exercise. The over 2,000 delegates were drawn from all the states in the federation.
