Abubakar Shekau: Boko Haram’s Leader Kills Himself After A Battle.
In an audio recording, it was revealed by an Islamist rival militant group that Abubakar Shekau killed himself.
Although, it is yet to be confirmed by the Nigerian government and Boko Haram themselves.
This audio recording, was obtained by the news agencies, ISWAP (Islamic State West Africa Province) saying that, Shekau died detonating explosives on himself after a serious battle between the two groups.
He has also been reported killed several times before. And now, its said that he killed himself just last month, May.
Who knows if he would resurface again.
WHAT WAS SAID IN THE AUDIO RECORDING?
After listening to the undated audio, a voice, assumed to be that of the Iswap leader, Abu Musab al-Barnawi said, “Shekau killed himself instantly by detonating an explosive”.
After a battle between the two groups, Shekau was found detonating an explosive on himself. Then the ISWAP’s leader said to him, “Repent and come and join us, the ISWAP.”
However, Shekau said, I prefer to be humiliated in the afterlife rather than be humiliated here on earth.
The Nigerian Army spokesman, Brig Gen Mohammed Yerima told the BBC that they would look into the issue, investigate and dig deeper before making a statement on the happenings.
And until they have gotten an authentic proof that Shekau is dead, then they will put it out there to the world. Because of how he usually resurface.
It is also believed that If truly Shekau is dead, then this could bring peace between the two rival militant groups.
Shekau is a violent and radical person, since his reign, over 30,000 people have being killed already. Therefore, if he is really dead, then, this could be the end of Boko Haram itself.
Also many of Shekau’s followers are already contemplating on whether to carry on His ideas and stay loyal to him or go and join the ISWAP.
