Abia Govt Denies Sponsoring IPOB, Peter Obi, A Call For Investigation.

The Abia State government, under the leadership of Alex Otti, has refuted allegations of sponsoring the activities of the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB) within the state. Additionally, the administration has denied using the state’s finances to support the legal battles of Peter Obi, the Presidential candidate of the Labour Party in the February 25 Presidential elections.

Ferdinand Ekeoma, the Special Adviser to Governor Alex Otti on Media and Publicity, made these denials in response to recent media reports. The Abia State government suggested that the press conferences where these allegations were raised might have been supported by the two opposition parties that are currently engaged in legal battles against Otti’s gubernatorial victory.

The state government has deemed the allegations to be significant and has called for an investigation by security agencies.

They suggest that the individuals making these claims should be summoned to explain their statements. During the first press conference, “a group of young men alleged that Governor Alex Otti was using funds from Abia State to support the legal battles of Mr. Peter Obi, the Labour Party’s presidential candidate during the last election”.

“In the second press conference, a different group of individuals claimed that the four-month-old government of Dr. Alex Otti was providing support to the Indigenous People Of Biafra (IPOB) to cause unrest and fear in the State”.
